I like zombies that run :(

This is my personal favourite of the four you just posted in the adv. thread.

It's very upbeat, the riff is catchy, so is the melody of the vocal. The lyrics are great as well, light-hearted but not toooooo silly. ha. I do prefer the zombies that are liek super humans tbh.

My only beef is with the vocals. You can argue that punk singers just shout or whatever, I'm not that into punk myself, but I didn't get along with the vocals in this track. Apart from that it's good.

5'd.

TenGroundandDown responds:

Yeah I know, I normally don't yell like that either. The song just kinda needed.

Wow.

Just noticed this was on the top 5 as well as the one you vocalled for Rig.

FUCKING GO, SPAWN!

war-spawn responds:

Thanks a lot bro ^_^

Nice nice

The intro is good. It's just enough to make you not lose interest and wait for the track to build up. The bass sounds really good in this bit, from what I can hear. My built in speakers aren't great at pumping out the low-end.

When it hits into the drop at the 1 minute mark it seemed to take a wrong turn. Not necesarily a bad one. But the synths used made it feel more mellow than what was expected after the intro. I was expecting something a bit more hard hitting with a harsh lead.

I loved the crowd cheers. You pulled it off without making it cheesey, like so many other songs.

You obviously have a fairly good idea of what you're doing, for someone fairly new to what they're doing.

5'd

RenoakRhythm responds:

Thanks for the 5. And thanks for just coming to listen to the song, means alot.

Ya, it does take a mellow turn, however after this uploaded version ends I lull for a minute then come back hard. Hopefully I don't lose the audience with the mellowness. I wrote this in mind that it will be heard over again, so having the mellow part kinda is like OMG, i can't wait for the 4 minute area for it to come in hard.

I spent a lot of time on the crowd so it wouldn't be cheesy. I've heard amateur stuff with crowds and its annoying, I almost didn't use it, but its a club song and it needs the club feel of the crowd to be truly enjoyed online, though i would think not to put the crowd sound if played at a club.

Thanks so much for the review.

Nice!

This could work well for an intro into some more hard-hitting broken beat, maybe sort of along the lines of dnb.

However, it'd still be great how it is.

I'll be awaiting the full-length song. :)

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks for the listen. Yeah, we'll see if i ever decide to finish this. x_x
I haven't worked on it since i posted it up. Was sort of a piece that allowed me to mess around with some various idea / samples / plugins / etc : O

Totally not emo

How did you record this?

It's very nice, I'd like to hear a longer version.
And for only 13, nice job. Did you start piano at an early age?

Zero123Music responds:

Shamefully I am only Grade 2 Piano, you must understand this is not my best work lol, I will be uploading my Piano Collections hopefully this week as my Sibelius is not working grrr....

Thanks for the 'Totally not emo' and My father has this Mp3 player with a Line-in cord and he can record stuff by directly plugging the Mp3 into the headphone slot. Much easier and cheaper than a recording studio, I think it's called RCA Lyra, maybe google it, hope I helped and thanks for the review :D

:O Presets!

If I'm right, you used the "Lost in Trance" preset for the lead, and the trance 2 kit for that kick.

If you fiddled with some of the synths, and got some other samples for the drums, this track could have some good potential.

wilb0b responds:

I'm actually using "Trance Hook" for both lead and rhythm and I'm using "Trance Remix Kit" and for the beats i programmed them but didn't work on them too hard, i only worked on this for an hour but i don't think i'll fix this, but i'll be making more on logic and doing some more fiddling so i can find better things but thanks for the review!

Real nice.

You should re-record this properly.
The gentle vocals in the verse sound rather nice, along with the clean guitar.

If you'd re-record this, it could do the song justice.
The distorted guitar seems distant and quiet, and the vocals in the chorus sound like you're struggling.
Other than that, it's nice.

Jakspeed responds:

Hey thanks a lot, I'm glad you took the time to listen and give an actual thoughtful response. We knew right off the bat that the chorus would sound bad, but we figured we should record it all anyway. We'll probably leave the verses alone, maybe redo the end of the second one, but fix up everything after that.

We were having trouble finding the right guitar sound cause nothing sounded right, so we'll work on that, and probably do the vocals alot better.

Thanks though.

This hit me like a truck

Incredibly nice. I just visiting the audio portal, and bam. Ouch. Awesome.
It's not often I write reveiws, but, this deserves it.

I can't honestly come up with an reasons how to improve in the slightest. So, enjoy my bit of arse kissing, I guess? :)

Also, what equipment/software was used for this?
Thanks.

raretools responds:

Thx for the arse kissing but a good magician never reveals his tricks ^^
I can tell you it involves a sertan VST synthesizer wich is my personal favourite.
Feel free to guess though, if anyone gets it right i will tell

Cool, cool.

Wasn't so sure about the intro. It might just be my personal opinion, but the bass didn't sound quite right? Timing perhaps?

The screams were pretty cool, and I loved the bits where you kind of merged the screams and the singing. It sounded quite hardcore shout-esque.
Although some of the clean vocals I wasn't too keen on myself. But they were still pretty heavy, and could go well with a bit of work.

Being honest, I wasn't sure about some bits of the riffs aswell, but again might just be my perosnal opinion, other people seem to have liked it.

I thought near the end and the ending was proper wicked.

Overall I liked it quite a lot. :)

CyriltheWolf responds:

Sweet thanks! Glad you enjoyed it on the whole, and I know... my vocals need work.
My riffs were almost all written spur of the moment to that drumline, so I dunno. Haha. I just tried my best.

Almost perfect right?

cool

The transition from the intro into the main bit of the song is immense.
This erects my ears.

DarKsidE555 responds:

erection is good for your pen0r as well! ;D
